Job Description

Excellent opportunity for a Data Protection Specialist to be based in Manchester on a 6 month initial contract for a leading banking organisation.

Role Purpose:

*To act as deputy to the UK Data Protection Manager and support business areas across the companies UK Operations to implement adequate risk management to comply with UK privacy law.

Role Dimensions:
*Data protection professional qualification and / or equivalent technical knowledge and practical experience of applying UK data protection law (DPA, PECR, GDPR, Lawful Business Practice Regulations), as well as ICO Codes of Practice, preferably in financial services
*Strong communication skills and ability to successfully communicate complex data protection requirements to a non technical audience essential
*Proactive and able to work independently, as well as proven ability of building positive cross functional working relationships
*Able to influence decision making to surface and mitigate privacy risks across a wide network of stakeholders, up to and including Heads of function

Role Responsibilities:

The role holder will support the Data Protection Manager, with specific responsibilities including:

*To act as first point of contact and subject matter expert within the UK Information Security function for providing day-to-day specialist advice, technical guidance and interpretation of DPA, GDPR, PECR ("UK privacy law requirements") and records retention requirements across UK banking operations, including supporting the UK Information Security function, business projects, change initiatives, Product Owners, System Owners and business areas as required
*To undertake Data Protection Privacy Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and security reviews of systems (as required), and ensure appropriate risk assessment and treatment of privacy requirements and risks in business units, change initiatives and new products
*To act as point of contact for Information Commissioners Office (ICO) and manage complaints from the ICO, conduct investigations, agree appropriate remedial actions with stakeholders
*To support the business comply with requests received from data subjects regarding UK's processing of personal data (i.e. Subject Access Requests) are dealt with promptly and in compliance with data protection requirements
*Support investigation and management of data incidents as required, to ensure DPA and UK privacy law impacts and risks are appropriately identified, assessed and mitigated
*To support the Bank's UK Data Protection Manager and GDPR Project Manager as required to deliver specific packages of work for the bank's GDPR project
*To support the bank's Procurement, Information Security and Legal functions, as required, to ensure privacy risks are identified and mitigated in vendor arrangements and appropriate GDPR requirements are built into vendor contracts
*Support product owners and business areas, as required, to develop and maintain appropriate Fair Processing Notices to ensure fair collection and use of personal data
