Job Description
Role: Design Lead
Contract Duration: 3 months initially
Day Rate: £400 - £450
Location: Fully Remote
IR35: Outside
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
-Partner with Product management to drive the discovery phase looking at commerce and marketplace propositions for our key brands
-Manage a small design team to user research, prototype, test and rapidly iterate commerce ideas for our products, in preparation for Q1 build of core Affiliate / Product Directory Experiences
-Work with product and UX research to map the current state of the commerce landscape at use these insights to design improved user experiences and components to deliver our key commerce journeys
-Support high-level product strategy, ensuring we're asking the right questions and solving for distinct user and business needs
-Drive clarity in undefined, yet complex problem spaces; balance contributing individual work with setting direction
-Create user flows, visual designs and prototypes to bring alive a future vision for commerce, but also deliver an MVP for seamless consumer-facing product pages, order forms, and checkout flows
-Manage 1-2 product designers on your team, directing and facilitating their day-to-day work
Represent your team's work to leadership and other teams at the company
Essential Skills & requirements:
-A stunning portfolio that shows a wealth of e-commerce design experience that directly impacted commercial performance, or business KPIs. Extensive examples of clear UX solutions, strong visual design, and the ability to make sense of complex workflows
-Demonstrable skill in managing senior stakeholders and their expectations across departments with a proven ability to create consensus on a design direction, whilst still delivering for the user and the business
-Experience leading and shipping large web and mobile products with an e-commerce focus, and managing designers within a product development context
-Familiarity and experience with hypothesis-driven design as well as qualitative and quantitative testing; a data-driven mindset
-Established approach to framing and solving hard problems and a rich understanding of a range of design and research tools and methods
-Experience with payments, checkout flows, and marketing order forms, and in general with complex, multi-user workflows
-Experience with a variety of processes for problem-solving, producing varying types of design artefacts, and demonstrable examples of which design exercises meet a particular purpose
-Experience with current web technology capabilities and limitations (html/css/modern web frameworks)
