Job Description

Dynamic Individual who is primarily responsible for developing existing infrastructure components such as storage (primarily NetApp), Virtualization (VMware), Network virtualization (NSX), compute (HP BL) and CommVault backups, as well as the various critical 'fabrics' such as AD, DNS, SCCM, Cisco Nexus, and an awareness of monitoring solutions such as vROPS, SCOM, Blue Medora, LogInsight and SolarWinds as well continually assessing their suitability against various alternatives (Terraform, OpenStack, Azure, HCI etc)
The role is a 50/50 split between driving ongoing improvements to the existing platform, bringing it to 'meet-in-the-middle' with tomorrow's technical strategy (to which you will be expected to contribute) around XaaS, Containers and CD.
Candidates will be expected to demonstrate competencies in stakeholder management, as well as both documenting and representing infrastructure architectures and selections to engineering teams, application owners and service management disciplines.
A tacit understanding of the implications a technical choice may have on PCI Compliance, Company Risk, Disaster Recovery, Change Control and Operational Support processes is required. As is the ability to create and instantiate changes to these processes.
"Ownership" is critical to this role, and as such you will be expected to understand the financial implications of both CapEx and OpEx commitments from a business perspective, whilst building in sufficient flexibility in both Payment and Scalability to allow the business to change tack quickly without significant re-tooling.
Efficiency is a significant vector, and candidates must be able to demonstrate significant transformative skill, in contrast to typical "green fielding" of Infrastructure projects.

Technologies in place include:
NetApp FAS and eSeries NFS v3 & v4.1 experience desirable, as well as familiarity with the NetApp WFA, OCUM and NAbox (Grafana) tools, as well as VMware integrations (VSC, VAAI etc)
VMware vSphere v6.5, NSX 6.3, vRealize Operations 6 (with multiple Blue Medora integrations), vRealize Network Insight 3.6, vRealize Log Insight 4.5 , vRealize Business, vRealize Orchestrator 7.4 and vRealize Automation 7.4
Cisco Nexus Etherchannelling, QoS, VLANs, FabricPath
HP ProLiant DL3xx and BL4xx series (C7000)
Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, PowerShell DSC, Windows Server 2003 2016, SCCM and SCOM
Microsoft 365 stack Exchange Online, Skype for Business, SharePoint Online etc
Octopus Deploy

Desirable Experience
Azure Hybrid Cloud Services
Kubernetes \ Docker
CentOS \ Ubuntu
Terraform \ Vagrant
vSphere on AWS \ CloudFoundation

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT/LOCATION
