Job Description
Contract opportunity: Interaction Designer - London - 12 months - £400-500 per day - inside IR35 - must be eligible for SC clearance
Please note: This role is INSIDE IR35, please do not apply if you are not happy working inside IR35
Skills and experience required:
- have relevant industry experience
- understand the web
- have experience of working from a digital perspective
- have experience of sketching, prototyping and iterative design
- have experience of working in a multidisciplinary team
- have experience of using a user-centred design approach
- have experience of explaining design decisions and communicating ideas in a way that other people understand
- be able to lead a workshop
- be able to help the design process work effectively
- know how to plan user research
- have experience of interpreting research and data
- have experience of handling constructive criticism of your work
- have experience of constructively reviewing other people's work
- have experience of putting forward the case for design to senior stakeholders and product owners
- have experience of working at pace in an agile environment
Responsibilities:
understand user needs and design services that meet them
- design user-centred interfaces and transaction flows
- define elements - layout, design patterns, controls and actions
- define visual priorities - what needs to be obvious, what needs to be easy, and what needs to be made possible
- create and rapidly iterate prototypes to help the wider team learn about user needs for different scenarios or tasks
- work with product owners, other designers, user researchers, business analysts, and front-end developers to turn concepts into user-centred services
- make sure that the design of services is consistent internally and with the rest of GOV.UK
- contribute to designing interaction patterns and standards, looking for common features across services
- take responsibility for creating and keeping up a positive and collaborative working environment
- contribute to building a digital culture in the department
- play an active part in the department's product design community
