Job Description


The IT Business Manager is a key member of the Business Management team, playing a central role in coordinating technology strategy and change, IT governance, and reporting and communications through to board level.

This role will focus on developing and driving the strategy, leading innovation topics, as well as providing support to the IT senior leadership.


Business Management

  • Establish positive working relationships with senior stakeholders across IT and the business, providing IT leadership with support on a broad range of topics
  • Participation in firmwide initiatives, representing IT in organizational wide working groups
  • Be a catalyst for change, driving a strong risk culture through technology. Challenge the status quo to drive 'out of the box' thinking to drive improvements in ways of working.
  • Manage ambiguity, operating effectively and decisively, even when things are not certain or the way forward is not clear.


  • Use external and internal resources to identify new innovations and emerging topics which should be considered, considering technology, regulatory landscape and ways of working
  • Work with stakeholders to ensure innovations and emerging topics are considered in the appropriate context

Provide leadership in specific innovation and emerging topics to develop proposals where required

IT Strategy

  • Support the development of the IT strategy, and drive forward key strategic initiatives by working with stakeholders to develop options and recommendations to progress
  • Lead cross divisional strategic working groups, established to coordinate the delivery of key initiatives (note: this will not be in the construct of a program or projects)

Develop reporting on the delivery of the IT strategy for leadership, highlighting progress as well as any issues or decisions required

Skills required:

  • Proven track record of business management, or demonstration of skill sets in a similar role
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills to build effective working relationships with multiple internal stakeholders, with the ability to adapt and flex communication style to suit the audience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills that are tailored to be effective and meaningful at all levels of audience, including the ability to communicate complex problems in an easy-to-understand
  • Analytical thinker, with strong data analysis skills to support the investigation of complex issues, make decisions and develop solutions
  • Proficient IT skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Acute business acumen and understanding of organizational issues and challenges
  • Relevant experience gained within Financial services, banking or similar environments beneficial

Knowledge and/or experience of Technology and IT change would be beneficial

  • Strong communicator - Delivers, directs, and facilitates communication amongst the IT function and wider business stakeholders; Resolves conflicts, influences outcomes on matters of significance for the division
  • Judgement and decision making - Contributes significantly to achieving cross-functional, consensus driven decisions by engaging and influencing others.
  • Strategic Thinking - able to understand the bigger picture and translate strategy into achievable activities.
  • Personal Effectiveness - Adapts to unexpected changes in circumstances and re-prioritizes ITs approach and activities; Plans and prioritizes, establishing a course of action leading to successful achievement of the team's objectives; Strong desire to simplify items and improve processes; Designs and implements new working practices and structures which deliver improvements for the team.

Innovative thinking - with a passion to learn

Experience required

  • Minimum of 3 years or more of experience in Business Management, Strategy, consultancy or similar role
  • Knowledge of Financial Services or another highly regulated industry sector is desirable but not essential

Knowledge of technology is desirable but not essential
