Job Description

CONTRACT OPPORTUNITY: IT Programme Manager West Midlands Initial 3-6 month contract £450-£475 per day (Dependent on experience)

Position Description:
- This Programme Manager role involves the leading of a small team to develop and then implement a number of different IT systems for Retailers.
- Around 20 sub projects are involved which need to be developed in conjunction with other major programmes.
- The role is not based in IT, but is based with the Customer

Roles & responsibilities:
- Define the scope of the project in collaboration with senior management
- Assist with writing business case and benefit management
- Create a detailed work plan which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project
- Develop a schedule for project completion that effectively allocates the resources to the activities
- Review the project schedule with senior management and all other staff that will be affected by the project activities; revise the schedule as required
- Determine the objectives and measures upon which the project will be evaluated at its completion
- Execute the project according to the project plan
- Work with project vendors, ensuring vendors work in line with JLR requirements
- Evaluate SOW's
- Manage the BRD/SDD process with the Supplier
- Document project activities, using normal Prince2 principles
- Monitor the progress of the project and make adjustments as necessary to ensure the successful completion of the project
- Review the quality of the work completed with the project team on a regular basis to ensure that it meets the project standards
- Run Project governance meetings, developing the materials to be discussed
- Evaluate the outcomes of the project as established during the planning phase

Skills/experience required:
- Management experience to lead the small team, involving team meetings, one to one meetings with team, and development of the team - with the ability to multi-task
- Prince II or ITIL equivalent working in Automotive
- Proven track record in Programme Management and handling multiple projects at the same time

Skills/Experience Required:
- Strong educational background, preferably in the fields of computer science or engineering
- Proven work experience in project management in the IT sector
- Solid technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience in software development
- Strong trouble-shooting skills
- Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Solid organisational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
- Ideally, PMP / Prince II certification
- Ideally knowledge of JIRA, MS Project
- Automotive experience is desirable
