Job Description

Contract Opportunity, Product Owner, Hertfordshire- 6 months contract- £400-£460 per day.

As a Product Owner, you are dedicated to ensuring the development teams you work with are always doing the most valuable thing possible improve the products and services you are responsible for.
You act as the interface between the development team and other groups with requests on their time, finding the right balance between competing priorities and setting clear priorities for each sprint.
You work closely with the Product Manager for the products you are responsible for. Where the Product Manager looks after the commercial health of the product and sets the long-term roadmap, you translate initiatives into detailed work for the team by maintaining a backlog of user stories, explaining the vision of each new change to the team and ensuring the team delivers regular incremental improvements. You balance the need to deliver new features with feedback from team on ways to improve the product technically, ensuring that technical debt is paid back in a sensible timescale when it is accrued.

Responsibilities
*Explain the product roadmap and vision to the team, so that everyone working on the product understands and supports what we need to achieve next.
*Take feedback across various teams on your product, and use this to maintain a prioritised backlog of bugs and product improvements that should be delivered alongside new product features.
*Work closely with the Product Manager to translate product roadmap items into a backlog the team can deliver.
*Maintain sprint and release plans for current initiatives, so it is clear to everyone interested what features will be in each release and the team understands how the backlog is expected to be delivered.
*Run sprint planning sessions so that the team always understands the current committed work and sprint review meetings so that stakeholders outside the team can understand what has been delivered and the priorities items in the backlog.
*Run backlog elaboration sessions with the team to ensure there is always a suitable depth of stories in the backlog that the team can take on in the next sprint.
*Assess the value of new stories suggested by people across the business, expand the content to clearly express what is required and prioritise them in the backlog in conjunction with the Product Manager.
*Co-ordinate software releases and monitor new releases for warranty issues that require urgent reaction from the team.
*Encourage the team to find creative ways to deliver the backlog, and to suggest new ideas for prioritisation.
*Take ownership and responsibility for ensuring that the product roadmap once delivered is fit for purpose and you manage the roll out to internal communities as well as external customers.
*The go-to person for Multipay delivery. Ensures that all key stakeholders are aware of releases and release plans, as well as any delays or problems in delivery.
*Ownership of the product and backlog and ensure the team have pride and responsibility for the quality of the product they are working on.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

*Strong experience of payment channels, applications and systems and a broad knowledge of the payments marketplace.
*Familiarity with SMETS1&2, DCC and payment collections for energy and utility companies.
*Familiarity with the specific needs of other payment collectors such as local authorities.
*Knowledge of agile development techniques, and acting as a product owner for a development team
*Ability to communicate clearly to technical teams to explain requirements and answer questions
*Good written communication skills
*Able to take a high-level product initiative and elaborate it into a backlog of specific requirements.
*Successful management of workload for cross-functional teams.
