Project Manager - Finance - London - 6 months

My finance client are searching for a experienced Change Project manager with proven track record working closely with both the business and It departments.

This is a 6 month contract working in Central London. The ideal candidate will be available immediately and come from a strong finance background.

Skills and Experience

Supporting business stakeholders and internal business analysts in the delivery of technology and process change in Distribution (Sales and Marketing), Operations and Finance as required

Negotiate with project stakeholders and internal / external suppliers to obtain resources to meet requirements

Establish and execute a project communication plan

Initiate, review and obtain approve modifications to project plans including maintaining the project brief / charter

Backlog management and release planning

Prepare project status reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends

Schedule and facilitate meetings for Steering Committees and Working Groups as necessary; facilitate discussion on decision making and conflict resolution

Manage project execution to ensure adherence to budget, schedule and scope

Direct or coordinate activities of project personnel

Establish artifacts that are compliant with project management protocol

Negotiate project delivery methodology based on requirements and system

Technical Skills and Qualifications

Must be able to communicate well with business stakeholders, project team and delivery / support functions

Must be able to lead and demonstrate value-add principles to a team

Must be able to ensure project management concepts and principles are adhered to, be the voice of reason and make the tough calls when necessary

Must be able to notice deviation from plan / issues, remove impediments where within the control of the team and elevate to management as necessary

Self-starter - high energy

Must be able to facilitate discussion and guide team, working group and steering committee toward alternatives or different approaches

Must be able to lead a matrix managed team

Must have the desire to bring disclosure and transparency to the business - grow business trust

Competencies Required

Experience working in a task-oriented environment

Understand basic fundamentals of software development

Familiarity of project management principles and methodologies e.g. Prince2

Familiarity with project delivery methodologies e.g. Agile (Scrum) and running a project in an agile environment

Strong interpersonal skills, with all levels of management, staff, outside vendors, contractors, and consultants

Knowledge of the Financial Services arena and preferably Asset Management

Experience of projects involving changes to in-house and 3rd party solutions

Experience of software RFP process desirable

Scrum master certified desirable
