Job Description

Project Manager/ Service Manager/ Product Manager - Contract

This role is a mix of core PM skills and some IT service management.


*Establish, maintain and lead on product(s) specific Strategic direction for the short, medium and long term, to ensure the product(s)/system continues to meet the evolving needs of the Service and other stakeholders.
*Interpret policies on programme, project and service management to define and develop and continuously improve procedures for the effective capture and implementation of the business needs.
*Perform financial forecasting and budget management to ensure that the central and uplift fund expenditure falls within budget and provides best value to all stakeholders.
*Establish and maintain productive working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders (up to CEO level) so that the assigned product(s) continues to meet business needs and realise business benefits.
*Influence the development and implementation of business processes supported by the assigned product(s) ensuring that stakeholders obtain maximum benefit from product deployment and use.

Internal and External Operational Activity

*Establish the Product Roadmap that details the programme of work and deliverables for the assigned product(s) to ensure that the product meets current and future needs of all stakeholders.
*Management of Change, which includes the capture of user requirements and the impact assessment of these on the assigned product(s), any linked products, business processes and stakeholders.
*To ensure the quality and integrity of the product by management of the Test and Acceptance process for work packages and releases of the software product. To direct the delivery of the product to stakeholders in a timely fashion in accordance with agreed schedules.
*Establish and maintain appropriate procedures for the monitoring and continuous improvement of the service management and support of the assigned product(s). To assist policing users in the creation, monitoring and enforcement of service level agreements.
*Identify and project manage the delivery of work packages to implement the Product Roadmap using PRINCE2/Agile.
*Identify product related risks and issues and manage activity to reduce their impact on all stakeholders.
*Establish and maintain appropriate stakeholder structures (User Groups, Supplier Management meetings etc) to gather requirements, agree business processes and disseminate best practice.
*Represent the organisation and other stakeholder interests for the assigned product(s) at various internal and external meetings so as to promote the product capabilities and to gain an awareness of, and influence over the drivers on the product(s) business area.
*Identify required commercial and contractual changes related to the product(s) and manage their implementation. Where appropriate instruct the programme manager on procurement to raise service and purchase orders and to make changes to framework agreement and contract schedules as required for delivery of the product roadmap.
*Monitor resource utilisation to ensure that work packages are completed to budget and take any necessary remedial action to achieve this. Authorise payments to service providers from the agreed funds on completion of agreed milestones.
*Review procedures on a regular basis so as to continuously improve the policies and procedures that govern the delivery of Product Management.
