Senior Software Engineer / Technical Lead - Cheltenham - £50-60k

My client is a medium-sized company with a great work/life balance, specializing in providing innovative software solutions to client in the defence sector. They are looking for passionate Software Engineers who have done significant development work with Full Stack development.

There are multiple positions open for Senior Software Engineers and Technical Leads.

These are full-time positions offering a very competitive compensation package. My client are based in Cheltenham but are able to offer majority remote working for this role.

We are seeking someone with excellent communication skills who can interact with external customers to map out their requirements. This a very-hands on role, however we are ideally looking for someone who can mentor/lead the more junior Software Engineers too.

Role Responsibilities

• Design/Develop/Test/Integrate Web based microservices
• Design/Develop/Test/Integrate APIs
• Deliver software solutions to the highest quality within secure coding environments
• Provide leadership, mentoring, and lessons learned w/ other developers
• Provide contribution to the technology roadmap and implement best practice
• Work in a small adhoc team environment
• Be able to work in an early-stage development environment
• Provide clear and effective communication
• Understand constraints driving best engineering solutions

Required Skills

• 4+ years of experience producing high quality code
• Strong experience in at least one high-level programming language (Java or Python)
• Experience developing in JavaScript, and JS frameworks (preferably Angular, React or Vue)
• Familiarity with development tools and processes (e.g. Git, JIRA, Jenkins, Team City)
• Relational Database (Postgres, MySQL, etc…) experience in an API type environment
• Linux based development environment
• Other desirable skills: Elastic Search, MongoDB, ArcGIS
• Full Stack development
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent degree or experience
