Job Description

IT Project Manager - 12 months - London - Asset Management

I am working with a Global Asset Management organisation who are seeking an experience Technical IT Project manager to join a global change programme. This is a 12 month contract based in London.

The ideal candidate will have experience in managing the technical deliveries for the segregation of IT platforms and interfaces to ensure the two companies are acting independently on their own respective infrastructures.

Experience

  • Liaise with the wider technology and operational teams to coordinate interdependencies and resolve issues
  • Scope workstream deliverables and timelines including detailed technical migration and cutover approach documents
  • Create and maintain the IT Programme plan and detailed plans as necessary
  • Define resource requirements for IT management team
  • Manage project related budget
  • Build relationships with and manage senior business stakeholders from Operations, IT & Product
  • Chair necessary steering and working group meetings as well as prepare necessary documentation
  • Support the definition, with assistance of stakeholders, of relevant target global operating models
  • Managing 3rd party vendors and ensuring agreed deliveries are on-track against expected budgets
  • Ensure project reporting responsibilities are met
  • Take a hands-on, methodical approach to identify and resolve issues
  • Be able to work on your own initiative, be self-motivated and to take on responsibility for solution delivery
  • Manage risks and issues effectively with timely escalation to the Programme Lead where necessary

Technical skills

  • Excellent understanding of IT & Operational areas within the asset management sector
  • Strong leader equally comfortable facing off to steering, challenging senior stakeholders and directing service providers and internal teams
  • Excellent Communication - provides documents that are clear, precise and comprehensible and communicates and presents in a clear and compelling manner
  • Excellent issues management with the an ability to keep clients and project team focused on delivery
  • Strong analytical skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements.
  • Ability to analyse high-level requirements and translate these to overall detailed system-level design to be used for architectural design, cost / benefit analysis, and solution development
  • Excellent communication, presentation, influencing, and reasoning skills, demonstrating the ability to communicate information technology concepts to non-technology personnel.
  • Strong abstraction, organization and simplification skills
  • Recognizes the importance of superior quality in providing a competitive edge
  • Problem solving / analysis - understanding of complex issues and problems and able to identify practical / pragmatic solutions
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and facilitation techniques in order to lead efforts as necessary
  • Self-motivation and enthusiastic approach - a completer-finisher able to work on their own initiative with a focus on delivery
  • Effective time management / planning - manages personal workload effectively, sets realistic and achievable targets and delivers to those targets
  • Problem ownership - takes responsibility for identified issues and works to resolve in a pragmatic manner
  • Ability to work across functional teams
  • 3-5 years project management experience including planning, budget management, meeting management and risk/issue tracking
  • Excellent knowledge of middle and back office functions
  • Ability to work cross-departmentally on global projects with vendors, clients, senior management and stakeholders
  • Experience of full project full life cycle from requirements gathering, through to UAT coordination, software release management and operational readiness
  • Strong in building and maintaining client and operational relations. Ability and confidence to liaise with all members of staff to ExCo level
