Backend Rust Engineer

Fully Remote

Salary: Up To $180,000

Operating at the intersection of traditional financial systems and DeFi, this team is focused on pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in decentralised trading, building systems designed to handle real capital under strict latency, reliability, and correctness constraints.

They’re now keen to speak with experienced Backend Rust Engineers to help design and build the core trading stack. This includes high-performance matching engines, risk and margin systems, blockchain integration, and settlement logic, with full end-to-end ownership over critical production components.

Working primarily in Rust, you’ll collaborate closely with engineers across smart contracts (Solidity), EVM simulation, and developer tooling. You’ll ultimately act as a core system-level decision-maker, influencing performance, scalability, and correctness across a live trading environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and build high-performance backend systems powering on-chain trading infrastructure.
  • Develop low-latency matching engines, risk systems, and settlement pipelines in Rust.
Own features end-to-end, from system design through to production deployment.
  • Collaborate with smart contract, protocol, and tooling teams on blockchain integration.
  • Drive architectural decisions around performance, scalability, and correctness.

Key Requirements:

  • Strong backend engineering experience with Rust in performance-sensitive systems.
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, and systems-level architecture.
  • Comfortable operating in environments with strict latency, reliability, and correctness requirements.
  • Experience with trading systems, blockchain infrastructure, or DeFi protocols is a strong plus.
  • High ownership mindset with the ability to operate effectively in lean, fast-moving teams.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an engineer who enjoys deep systems work to join a highly technical team building institutional-grade trading infrastructure, with real ownership, meaningful influence, and exposure to cutting-edge DeFi systems.
