Role: Platform Engineer
Location: SF Bay Area
Salary: $175,000 - $230,000
Industry: Technology
ABOUT THE COMPANY
Our client is a well-funded, early-stage infrastructure startup building developer tooling focused on simplifying data-intensive application architecture. Their open-source platform has seen rapid adoption across engineering organizations ranging from high-growth startups to enterprise environments in fintech, cloud infrastructure, and other technically complex industries.
Following several years of product development, the company has established strong product-market fit, a growing base of enterprise customers, and increasing demand for production deployments. They’re now scaling the platform team responsible for customer infrastructure and deployment operations.
THE ROLE
As a Platform Engineer, you'll own the infrastructure that delivers the product to enterprise customers. The core of this work is a Bring-Your-Own-Cloud (BYOC) platform: a Kubernetes-based deployment system that runs inside customers’ cloud environments. You'll build and operate it, work directly with customers from initial deployment through production support, and help define what the platform team looks like from the ground up.
This is not a role where you follow someone else’s playbook. You’ll make meaningful architectural decisions on infrastructure that supports enterprise customers at scale.
WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON
• Build and maintain the BYOC platform using Kubernetes, Terraform, Helm, and cloud APIs
• Own database operations within the platform including backups, replication, high availability, and recovery
• Develop deployment, monitoring, and testing infrastructure around the core platform
• Work directly with enterprise customers through rollout and ongoing production support
• Build CI/CD pipelines for continuous benchmarking, testing, and releases
• Contribute to technical documentation, product demos, and platform tooling
• Help shape infrastructure and platform roadmap decisions
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
• Strong proficiency in Go
• Deep production-level Kubernetes experience
• Experience working on managed infrastructure, cloud platform, or database products
• Strong distributed systems background including microservices, APIs, and gRPC
• Knowledge of relational database operations including replication, WAL, backups, and HA setups
• Experience with Terraform, Helm, Bash/Python, and CI/CD tooling
• Prior experience deploying infrastructure directly into customer cloud environments
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical decision-making clearly
WHY THIS ROLE
• Join a company with strong product-market fit and growing enterprise demand
• Flat structure with direct exposure to founders and technical leadership
• Opportunity to solve complex infrastructure and distributed systems challenges
• Work on an open-source product with an active and growing developer community
BENEFITS
• Medical, dental, and vision insurance
• Competitive equity package
Senior / Staff Product Engineer
Location: New York City (In-Person, 5 Days/Week)
Salary: $200,000 - $300,000+
Industry: Developer Tools / AI Infrastructure
This is a rare opportunity to build a product category that does not yet exist. Our client - backed by GV (Google Ventures) and Y Combinator - is expanding their CI infrastructure into the next generation of agentic developer tooling. Nobody has built this yet. You would be first.
They operate at real scale - millions of VMs, thousands of machines, petabyte-scale storage - with an engineering team that comes from Cockroach Labs, MongoDB, Datadog, and Google.
What You Will Do
- Lead 0-to-1 development of net-new agentic developer tools and product launches
- Own products end-to-end from initial build through to production and ongoing iteration
- Build and iterate on the company's background coding agent
- Contribute to architecture and product direction - this is a high-ownership, high-autonomy role
- Help shape engineering culture as a senior early hire on a fast-scaling team
You Might Be a Fit If
- You have 7+ years of software engineering experience and strong CS fundamentals
- You have a track record building developer tools, internal platforms, or infrastructure products
- TypeScript (performance level required)
- You thrive in ambiguous, early-stage environments and make confident calls without a full playbook
- You want to build something foundational - not iterate on what already exists
