Rooted in Compliance held its first session this month, bringing together compliance leaders from across the fintech space for an evening of open discussion, networking, and shared experiences.

Led by Kendall Maylor, Divisional Principal – Privacy, Legal, Compliance & Policy in Emerging Tech, the conversation covered everything from the future of compliance and the current hiring landscape to the day-to-day challenges teams are navigating as the industry continues to evolve.

After the event, we caught up with Kendall to reflect on the discussions, the insights shared throughout the evening, and what's next for the Rooted in Compliance community.

For anyone who couldn't make it, can you tell us a little about the focus of the evening and the conversations you wanted to encourage?

Super grateful to everyone who was able to make the first Rooted in Fintech Compliance session! Conversations were free flowing and insightful as to just how dynamic this space is. We discussed the hiring landscape, most common challenges and how to overcome them, and the future of fintech compliance.

What were some of the biggest talking points or themes that came up during the discussion?

The biggest talking points were around the future of compliance, hiring, and current challenges people are facing.

Was there a perspective or insight shared on the night that really stood out to you?

Advice on how to make an impact cross-functionally and build relationships across the company to gain trust that is needed to be effective in compliance.

Looking back on the first session, what do you hope everyone took away from it?

A new friend/colleaue and insights and advice they can take back to their own day to day and implement.

One of the aims of Rooted in Compliance is to create a space where people can openly share ideas and experiences. How do you think the first event reflected that?

I think it was a good start! I want this to be a community for the people, what we as a community put into it, is what we will get out of it. We are very open to constructive feedback as to how we can evolve these sessions and ensure they continue to be exciting, fun, practical, and useful.

Now that the first session is complete, what's next for the Rooted in Compliance community?

This was the first session of many, so I hope we can continue to cultivate an amazing group of fintech compliance leaders and continue to share insights and network.
